ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian women's lacrosse team wrapped-up the non-conference portion of its 2022 schedule on Sunday against backyard-rival Siena Heights. Now, almost a week later, the Bulldogs are set to resume action with their conference-opener on Saturday.
The black and gold are 6-4 all-time in their first MIAA contests of the season, including a win in 2021 against their next opponent, Kalamazoo.
The Hornets (6-4, 0-0 MIAA) come into this weekend winners of two of their last three, but did drop their most recent outing versus Mount Union, 17-7 on Sunday.
Rose Bogard (49 goals, 55 points, 107 shots) and Hannah Heeren (46 goals, 52 points, 98 shots) have made a name for themselves on the league's leaderboards. The duo rank first and fourth, respectively in total goals, fourth and fifth in total points, second and fifth on draw controls, and first and second in total shots and caused turnovers.
Between the pipes, Jordan Flink has made a conference-high 10 appearances, and sports the fourth-best goals-against average at 9.66. The freshman netminder will be putting that mark to the test against an Adrian offense that is posting 11.3 goals per game.
Seniors
Olive Stevens and Carless Casteel make up a significant bulk of the Bulldogs scoring, pacing the locals with 33 and 20 goals, respectively. Stevens, in fact, has notched six or more goals in three of her last four games, including a career-high-tying eight against Siena Heights last weekend.
Elsewhere on the Adrian line-up,
Zoe Weber continues to build on her point-streak, which is currently at six games. The freshman, however, has been held without a goal in the 'Dogs last two contests, but that has not stopped her from contributing three assists during that span.
Cassidy McGeorge,
Joscelyn Potter and
Delaynie Harris are three other Bulldogs who have surpassed the 10-point threshold this season, with a combined 20 goals and 13 assists between the three.
In goal,
Jordan Hunt is 1-2 in the first three career starts for Adrian. The freshman actively holds a 0.294 save percentage and has made 20 total saves during her time in net.
The 'Dogs will be going for only their second win all-time against the Hornets at home, and second consecutive win overall in the series.
