ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College football team shutout Hanover College 33-0 at home on Saturday afternoon. This is the first shutout for the Bulldogs since Oct. 11, 2014 against Alma College.
Adrian's first scoring play was an 8-yard touchdown run by
Aaron Jenkins with 9:13 left in the first half. The Bulldogs ended the half with a 22-yard field goal by
Walker Evans with four seconds left. Jenkins returned to the end zone 16 seconds into the fourth quarter with a 4-yard run, Walker missed the extra point. Evans completed a 30-yard field goal with 11:34 left in the game. Jimmy Clark ran for two yards earning the third touchdown of the game for the Bulldogs. Late in the fourth quarter,
Sam Madrid intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown to extend the Adrian lead..
For Hanover, quarterback Matthew Weimer went 13-of-20 for 78 yards. Lance McKee led the Panthers in receiving with 27 yards. Jeremy Gettelfinger was the rushing leader for Hanover, gaining 49 yards. On the defensive side, Luke Brody had four solo tackles and eight assisted tackles.
Jenkins and
Jack Kujawa shared the role of quarterback during the game. Jenkins finished 4-of-14 passing while Kujawa finished 4-of-5 during his collegiate debut. Jenkins also led the Bulldogs in rushing yards with 117 and two touchdowns.
Kenny Kujawa ended the game with 52 yards receiving to lead the Adrian offense. The Bulldog defense was led by
Kyle Minder who made six tackles, five of them being solo tackles.
The Bulldogs will travel to Bluffton, Ohio next weekend to play Bluffton University. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Adrian's next home game will be on Saturday September 24 with kickoff set for 3 p.m on Homecoming Weekend.
