ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team competed in the MIAA/NCAC crossover tournament over the weekend. The opponents were based on the 2021 conference standings with the similar seeds facing each other. The Bulldogs began the weekend against Wooster before taking on Hiram and DePauw on Saturday to finish the weekend.
Adrian defeated Wooster 3-1 on Friday night. Adrian took the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-17. Wooster grabbed the third set at 25-22, but the Bulldogs bounced back to win the fourth 25-23 to finish the job.
Amber Morris led the team with 14 kills in the match against Wooster followed by ten from
Mallory Dorow and seven from
Destiny Johnson.
Hailey Farrell led the team with 39 assists while
Mya Minjares collected 25 digs.
Adrian began Saturday's doubleheader with a 3-2 loss to Hiram. Hiram took the first set 25-21 before Adrian fought back to take a 2-1 lead after set wins of 25-20 and 25-21. Hiram battled back and grabbed the last two sets to win in five.
Johnson led the team with 15 kills while
Erikah Bower and Morris each racked up ten. Farrell added 50 assists in the match while Minjares totaled another 25 digs.
The final match of the weekend was against DePauw with the Bulldogs winning 3-1. Adrian took the first set 25-23 before DePauw tied the match after set two. Adrian demolished the Tigers in the third set by a score of 25-14 before locking up the win with a 25-22 win in set four.
Morris finished the match with 14 kills followed by eight from Dorow and six from Johnson. Farrell added 32 assists while Minjares picked up 23 digs.
The Bulldogs return to action with their final tournament of the season on the road at Hanover College where they will face Hanover, Westminster College (Pa.), Kenyon College, and Berea College. Adrian opens the tournament with a match on Friday, September 16 at 5:00 PM.
