HANOVER, Ind. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team competed in another tournament over the weekend where they played four matches. The tournament was hosted by Hanover College in Indiana where Adrian finished the weekend 2-2.
The Bulldogs began Friday with a game against Hanover to kick off the weekend. The Bulldogs took the first set by a score of 25-19, but went on to trail 2-1. Adrian forced a fifth set after a 25-22 win before dropping the fifth set 15-11 to lose the match. As a team, the Bulldogs finished with 43 kills on 193 attacks for a percentage of .062.
Amber Morris led the team with 14 kills followed by 11 from
Mallory Dorow.
Hailey Farrell finished with 34 assists while
Mya Minjares led the team with 26 digs.
The Bulldogs went on to play Westminster from Missouri and completed a sweep. Adrian won all three sets by scores of 25-19, 26-24, and 25-23. Adrian finished the match with an attack percentage of .162 with the help of 38 kills and only 16 errors. Morris totaled 12 kills in the matched while Dorow and
Destiny Johnson each added ten. Farrell finished with 24 assists while Minjares racked up 15 digs.
Adrian opened Saturday with a match against Kenyon and came away with a 3-2 victory. The Bulldogs lost the first set 25-14, but bounced back to take set two 25-11. After losing 25-14 in the third, the Bulldogs forced a fifth set after a 25-13 victory. The Bulldogs finished off the win with a 15-10 set five score. Johnson and Morris each collected 13 kills while Dorow finished with 11. Farrell had 41 assists during the match while Minjares collected 33 digs.
Adrian battled during the final match of the weekend against Berea College from Kentucky. The Bulldogs went down 2-0 but won sets three and four by scores of 28-26 and 25-17 to force another five-set match. Adrian struggled in the final set and lost the match 3-2. Morris recorded 21 kills to lead the team. Farrell picked up 29 assists while
Lana Cox led the Bulldogs with 23 digs.
Adrian moves to 7-5 on the season. Both of the Bulldogs' losses this weekend came in five sets which continues to the season trend. All five losses on the year resulted in five-set matches.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, September 20 against Trine University to open the MIAA season. Tuesday's match will be Adrian's first home match of the season and is scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking
