CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Adrian Men's Rowing team started their 2022 Fall Season this Saturday with a solid performance at the Head of the Cuyahoga in Cleveland. Coming off the back of an extremely competitive season, all crews immediately established their intentions to continue where they left off - collecting medals in all categories in which they raced.
 
In their first race of the day, the Men's Varsity Eight came home in second place in the Open 8+, with a time of 15:39.4, just 6 seconds from Marietta (15:33.7), and more than 30 seconds in front of third place MSU. It was a very composed performance from the eight, with a smooth and controlled rhythm taking them from a third place starting spot to the very front of the pack in rapid time. 
 
Next up, the Bulldogs fielded a Men's Double featuring two Freshman in Cole Rice and Connor Whalen. Though they faced some steering problems with the tough twisting course, the Double were able to lay down a strong time that placed them third overall in the double's category.
 
Finally, members of the Men's Eight were split into two Fours, which placed strongly in the Men's Open 4+ category. The two started one after another, and finished in 3rd and 4th places, with just 7 seconds separating the two. The racing between the crews was fierce, and showed off the strength in depth that the Bulldogs have at the start of this new season.
 
Of the day's racing Coach Pratt said: "This was a really positive start for the men, I thought they executed their races very well and showed a lot of promise. I definitely saw that all boats had a few more gears to go through, and it's encouraging to see us do so well without really hitting our highest level! Myself and Coach Lucie are excited to see how we can improve going into the Head of the Ohio."
 
The Adrian Men have been bolstered in their efforts by the news that they will be attending the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in the Eight for a second consecutive year, and the focus is squarely on preparing for the late October race. 
 
Adrian Rowing will next be in action at the Head of the Ohio, in Pittsburgh PA, on October 1st.
