ADA, Ohio -- The Adrian College women's tennis team opened its season at Ohio Northern on Saturday afternoon.
Jules Johnson showed a strong outing for the Bulldogs, but it wasn't enough as Adrian dropped the opening match, 5-2.
Johnson and
Elizabeth Himebauch grabbed an early win at No. 1 Doubles by a score of 8-6.Â
Liv Depies and
Claire Earley battled at No. 2 Doubles, but came up short losing 8-5.
Brooke Posey and
Hope Busscher struggled at No. 3 Doubles losing 8-0.
Johnson powered through No. 1 Singles with a two-set sweep to win 6-3 and 7-6. Earley was the other winner for the Bulldogs as she won her second set 6-2 to force a tiebreaker which she went on to win 6-3. Himebauch dropped her match at No. 2 Singles by set scores of 6-0 and 7-5 followed by losses from Depies at No. 4 Singles, Busscher at No. 5 Singles, and Posey at No. 6 Singles.
Adrian looks to turn things around next weekend in Indiana as they travel to take on Hanover College and Manchester University on Saturday, September 10.
