ADA, Ohio -- It wasn't the start the Adrian College men's tennis team wanted to begin the year. The Bulldogs traveled to Ohio Northern to open the fall season. Adrian struggled on the road dropping the contest 7-0.
Brandon Falk and
Sebastian Smith started the day with an 8-3 loss at No. 1 Doubles.
Joey Quigley and
Zachary Perry played at No. 3 Doubles and fell 8-2. A battle was happening at No. 2 Doubles with
Jackson Wilcox and
Sean Ruhf trailing 6-5, but the series winner at Doubles went on to claim a point resulting in the final Doubles match going unfinished.
Falk battled at No. 1 Singles later in the day falling by scores of 6-2 and 6-4. Smith competed at No. 2 Singles dropping both sets 6-1. Quigley struggled in his first set at No. 3 singles falling 6-0, but showed signs of life in set two losing 7-5. Freshman
Luke Holowinski went 0-2 in his sets with results of 7-5 and 6-1 while Ruhf went on to lose 6-1 and 6-2 at No. 5 Singles followed by a pair of 6-1 losses from
Darren Walter in No. 6 Singles.
The Bulldogs will hope to improve with a doubleheader next Saturday when Adrian takes on Hanover College and Manchester University on the road.
