ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's rugby team began its season on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs traveled to Ann Arbor to take on the University of Michigan. Adrian battled in a 10-on-10 match, but came up short to lose 10-7.
The Bulldogs began the day with a full game against Michigan. Adrian trailed 5-0 at halftime after an early Michigan Try. In the second half,
Gabby Jex scored for Adrian which was followed by a conversion from
Molly Cherry. Michigan scored a second half try to lead 10-7 and hold onto the win.
The full match was followed by a pair of scrimmage contests and one final half of rugby. Michigan scored in the half, but
Shyann Ronning put the Bulldogs on the board to finish the half 5-5.
Adrian's next contest is on Saturday, September 17 when they travel to Toledo, Ohio to take on the Toledo Celtics. Saturday's match is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
