ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Calvin University on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs battled the Knights to the end dropping the contest 64-59 after falling shy of a late comeback.
Five minutes into the first half, Calvin led by five at 11-6.
Kendall Bellamy recorded back-to-back baskets for the Bulldogs followed by a basket from Seifert. Calvin went on to extend its lead to ten points halfway through the half, but the Bulldogs came battling back. Bellamy recorded a pair of buckets along with a fast break layup from
De'Ovion Price. Adrian kept chipping into the lead eventually cutting the deficit to one. The Knights went on a small run late in the half and went into half with a 28-23 lead over Adrian.
Calvin continued its run early in the half jumping out to a 15-point lead. Price, Bellamy, Seifert, and
Victor Sheffey scored for Adrian to bring the Calvin lead from 15 points to two points with 2:26 to go in the game. With under a minute to play, Calvin knocked down a jumper to lead by five forcing Adrian to foul and eventually come away with a 64-59 loss.
Price led all scorers with 22 points on the afternoon followed by 18 from Bellamy and 11 from Seifert. Bellamy led the team in rebounds with five while Price recorded three steals.
Adrian returns to action on the road as they travel to Hope College on Wednesday, January 18 to take on the Flying Dutchmen in another MIAA battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
