Game Recap: Men's NCAA Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Sweeps Finlandia by Scores of 6-0 and 7-1

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team hosted the Finlandia University Lions over the weekend in a two-game NCHA conference series. Adrian came away with a pair of victories with a 6-0 win on Friday night and a 7-1 win on Saturday.
 
On Friday, Adrian grabbed a first period goal from Ryan Pitoscia to lead 1-0. After scoreless second period, the Bulldogs didn't waste any time in the third. Hunter Wendt netted back-to-back goals followed by a goal from Mathew Rehding. All three goals were scored in the first minute of the period. Later in the period, Pitoscia scored his second of the game followed by a goal from Devyn Orpana to come away with a 6-0 win.
 
Nic Tallarico got the start in goal on Friday night where he recorded his first career shutout.
 
On Saturday, Adrian started the scoring early netting four first period goals. Chase Spencer scored on a power play to lead 1-0. Riley Murphy scored back-to-back goals in the span of 24 seconds to lead 3-0. Rehding made it a 4-0 game heading into the first intermission.
 
The Bulldogs added three more goals in the second period to increase its lead to 7-0. Alec Lovisek scored early in the period followed by a goal from Alessio Luciani. With under a minute to play in the period, John Kaljian scored on a power play to lead 7-0.
 
Adrian was held scoreless in the third period while Finlandia scored its only goal of the weekend late pushing the final score to 7-1.
 
Jackson Bernard made his collegiate debut on Saturday afternoon. He faced just five shots with the first Finlandia shot on goal coming in the second period. The Bulldog defense allowed zero shots on goal in the third period on Friday night and zero in the first period on Saturday.
 
Adrian will head out on the road next weekend when they travel to Lake Forest College for a two-game series scheduled to begin on Friday, January 20 at 7:00 PM.
