LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team played in the series finale against Lake Forest College on the road on Saturday afternoon. After a battle with the Foresters, the Bulldogs picked up its second loss of the season in overtime by a score of 3-2.
The Foresters and the Bulldogs were scoreless through the first period. Adrian grabbed the lead in the second period on a goal from
Une Bjelland. Just over a minute later, Lake Forest answered the tie the game. Before the period ended, Lake Forest scored on a power play to lead 2-1 after the second.
Jessica VonRuden tied the game in the third to make it 2-2. After 60 minutes was up, Adrian and Lake Forest forced overtime. With just under three minutes played in overtime, Lake Forest netted a goal to win 3-2.
Sophie Goldberg got the start in goal making 19 saves on the night. The Bulldogs struggled with their opportunities as they out-shot the Foresters 53-22.
Adrian returns home next weekend when they host the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons with the series beginning Saturday, February 4 at 7:00 PM
