ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team was back at home this week as they hosted Stevenson University on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs picked up its tenth win of the season after defeating the Mustangs 4-1.
Adrian got the scoring going early with a quick goal from
Hunter Wendt.
Terry Ryder and
Ty Enns picked up assists on the opening goal. Less than two minutes later
Bradley Somers scored off a rebound from
Austin Clyne to make it 2-0. Stevenson got on the board late in the period to make it 2-1.
The second period went scoreless with the help of Adrian killing a double minor penalty.
Enns extended the lead to 3-1 on assists from
Sam Ruffin and Shields at 13:32 in the third period. Stevenson pulled its goalie looking for help from the extra attacker. After a save from
Dershahn Stewart, Clyne picked up the loose puck and fired it the length of the ice for an empty net goal bringing the final score to 4-1.
Stewart got the start in goal on Wednesday night earning 26 saves with eight in the first period, ten in the second, and eight in the third. Adrian moves to 10-2-1 on the year after the win.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they head to Lawrence University this weekend for a two-game NCHA series on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
