ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team welcomed Suffolk University to the Arrington Ice Arena on Friday night for a nonconference matchup. Adrian shutout the Rams on Friday night by a score of 3-0.
Suffolk came out strong on offense putting shots on goal early. After a pair of Adrian penalty kills, Suffolk lead 8-1 on shots on goal. The Bulldogs began to take advantage of opportunities and scored with just under a minute to play in the first period. Reghan Pietrowski scored a power play goal on assists from
Karmen Anderson and
Kathryn Truban.
In the second period, the Bulldogs struck again.
Karmen Anderson netted a goal on assists from Pietrowski and Truban to lead 2-0. Just over a minute later,
Jessica VonRuden extended the lead to 3-0 on a power play goal. After the second period, the Bulldogs led 20-18 in shots on goal.
The third period went scoreless both ways allowing the Bulldogs to complete the shutout.
Sophie Goldberg earned the start in goal on Friday evening finishing the day with 30 saves earning her ninth win of the season, fifth shutout, and No. 1 star of the game. Pietrowski earned the second star of the game with Anderson earning the third.
The Bulldogs will look to complete the sweep on Saturday afternoon as they host Suffolk for game two of the series at 3PM.
