ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team wrapped up the two game nonconference series against Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon. After shutting out the Rams the night before, the Bulldogs looked to complete the sweep. After a battle for most of the game, Adrian forced a change of events and came away with a 3-1 win.
The first period went scoreless on Saturday with shots on goal at 12-11 in favor of Suffolk.
Maya Roy broke the silence in the second period on an unassisted goal to lead 1-0. Later in the period, Suffolk tied the game at 1-1 bringing the tie into the third period.
In the third,
Jocelin Hudanish netted a power play goal to put Adrian ahead 2-1. Thirty seconds later,
Karmen Anderson found the back of the net to lead 3-1 resulting in the final score. Adrian was given a two-minute penalty for roughing with 2:30 to go and the Rams pulled their goaltender to put themselves on a 6-on-4 advantage. The Bulldogs defense held strong and kept Suffolk scoreless to win the game.
Sophie Goldberg picked up another win in goal on Saturday afternoon totaling 29 saves.
The Bulldogs move to 12-1 on the season and will look to expand on their 4-0 NCHA record next weekend. Adrian will have a week off before they host Lawrence University on Friday, January 13 at 3:30 PM.
