Men's Hockey Grabs 4-1 Win Over Lawrence to Finish Weekend Sweep

APPLETON, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team finished the NCHA series against Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Bulldogs came away with a 4-1 victory to sweep the Vikings and move to 6-2 in NCHA play.
 
The Bulldogs and the Vikings were scoreless through the first period of play. In the second period, Bradley Somers broke the silence scoring on assists from Ty Enns and Riley Murphy. Later in the period, Jacob Suede found the back of the net to lead 2-0. Lawrence scored later in the second period making it a one-goal game heading into the third.
 
In the third period, Zachary Heintz extended the Adrian lead on a power play goal on assists from Somers and Matus Spodniak. With time winding down, Ryan Pitoscia scored a shorthanded, empty net goal to give Adrian a 4-1 lead.
 
Dershahn Stewart earned the start in goal for Adrian on Saturday totaling 18 saves on the afternoon. Stewart finished with six saves in the first period, five in the second, and seven in the third.
 
Adrian moves to 12-2-1 on the season and are 6-2 in NCHA play where they sit tied for second with St. Norbert who was swept by Aurora University this weekend. Aurora holds the top spot in the standings with an 8-0-2 NCHA record.
 
The Bulldogs will return home for a two-game series against Finlandia University beginning Friday, January 13 at 7:00 PM.
