ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College football team traveled to Trine University looking to grab a MIAA win. The Bulldogs started the game hot, but went silent in the second half to fall to the Thunder 34-14. Adrian falls to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in MIAA play.
The Bulldogs took the opening drive into the end zone to lead 7-0 on a 5-yard rush from
Brady Raymond. Later in the first quarter,
Mark Lopez found
Keontae Townsend for a 40-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14-0. The Bulldogs and Trine put together a defensive battle the rest of the half to allow Adrian to hold the 14-0 lead at halftime.
Trine came out and quickly responded with a 21-point third quarter to take the lead, 21-14. Trine added on in the fourth. The Thunder began the quarter with a field goal followed by a fumble recovery for a touchdown and another field goal to pull away and win 34-14.
Lopez finished the day with 11 completions for 162 yards passing and a touchdown.
Tejay Moore led the way on the ground with 43 rushing yards of six attempts. Townsend finished the game with 125 yards receiving on five receptions.
Ryker Bidwell led the defense with 16 total tackles for Adrian followed by nine from
Kameruan Smith and nine from
Maddox Woods.
Chaun Tolbert added an interception for the Bulldogs while
Randall Broome picked up a sack.
Adrian's next game will be on the road at Kalamazoo College on Saturday, October 14 at 1PM.
