ST. BONAVENTURE, NY. -- The Adrian College Women's Rugby team traveled to New York on October 1st to play in a neutral site match with the University of New England. The game finished in a 26-26 tie.
UNE scored in the first ten minutes of the game, going up 5-0. The Bulldogs then answered back with a try of their own from
Erin Clay. At the end of the first half, the Bulldogs trailed 13-5.
To start the second half, UNE converted again, making the score 18-5 before
Cassie Rice and
Paige Longcore scored within three minutes of each other, followed by two conversions from
Madison Williamson making the score 19-18 in favor of the Bulldogs. Adrian then scored once more on a try from
Ariel Rathell which Williamson converted, bringing the score to 26-18.
In the dying minutes, UNE was able to score a try, making it 26-23. Shortly after, a yellow card against the Bulldogs led to a penalty kick for UNE who tied the match, 26-26.
The Bulldogs next game was scheduled for October 7 against Davenport University, but was later canceled. The team's next game is set to take place on October 14 against Norwich University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
