Game Recap: Men's NCAA Ice Hockey |

Rehding Scores Game Winner with Seconds to Go to Defeat MSOE, 3-2

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team held its home opener on Friday night as the Bulldogs hosted the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).  The Bulldogs grabbed a nail-biting victory on a game winning goal with seconds remaining from Mathew Rehding to defeat the Raiders, 3-2.
 
The Bulldogs scored the first goal of the game on an Adrian power play. Jaden Shields and Zachary Heintz found Jacob Suede in front of the net to lead 1-0. Later in the period, MSOE answered back to tie the game 1-1. The second period went scoreless for both teams with shots on goal at 25-22 in favor Adrian through forty minutes.
 
In the third period, Connor May picked up a pass ripping a shot that was skied into the air and deflecting of a Raider defender into the net to give Adrian a 2-1 lead. With 7:46 to go in the third period, MSOE tied the game again, 2-2. The Bulldogs found themselves with a face off in their offensive zone with under a minute to go and called a time out to draw up a play. With 13 seconds left in the period, Mathew Rehding found the back of the net to take the lead 3-2 and win the game.
 
Shields finished the night with two points after picking up another assist on the game winning goal. Dershahn Stewart got the start in goal for the Bulldogs where he finished the night with 28 saves including 17 in the second period alone.
 
Adrian and MSOE will wrap up its series at home tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM.
