GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The No. 3 Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team put up sixteen goals while only allowing two in a dominant sweep of GLCHL rival, Davenport University. The Bulldogs defeated the Panthers at home on Thursday by a 9-1 score and then on the road on Friday by a 7-1 score.
The Bulldogs opened up at home with a 6-0 lead on goals from
Dylan Gajewski,
Justin Jamer,
Sam Spaedt and a hat-trick from
Gavin Watt after two periods of play. The Panthers would find the score sheet once in the third period but the Bulldogs answered back with three more tallies from Gajewski,
Sebastian Smith, and Jamer. Adrian goaltender
Noah Decottignies made 16 saves in his eleventh win of the season while Spaedt and Watt both finished the night with four points each.
Adrian and Davenport have a long history of playing each other, with the Bulldogs now holding a 32-11 record against the Panthers after this week's match-up. Game two between the two GLCHL foes on Friday was another commanding win for the top-five nationally-ranked Bulldogs, thanks to another strong offensive and defensive effort.
Matthew DiCesare x2,
Matthew Cruz, Spaedt,
Nash Hatcher,
Caleb Minns, and Gajewski provided the scoring while freshman goaltender
Peyton Trzaska made 15 saves in his fifth win of the season.
The No. 3 MD1 Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they host the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on Tuesday night for a pre-thanskgiving match-up at the Arrington Ice Arena. Puck drop at 7:00 PM.
