ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team hosted their first conference game of the season against Kalamazoo College at home on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs were able to come away with the win, 71-62.
In the first half, Adrian would start the game on a 9-0 run in the first few minutes. Kalamazoo would storm back on an 11-0 run of their own to take an early lead. The Bulldogs would end the first quarter up 16-13. A back and forth second quarter was won by Adrian while they took the halftime lead, 35-30. The Bulldogs shot 48.4% from the field compared to the Hornets 38.5%.
A solid third quarter from the Bulldogs gave them a 10-point lead to start the fourth quarter. Kalamazoo would keep it interesting, bringing the score to within four points with about three minutes to go. The Bulldogs would end the game on a 9-4 run to win, 71-62. Adrian would end the night shooting 44.1% from the field and 40% from beyond the three-point line. Kalamazoo would shoot 38.2% from the floor and 33.3% from three.
Julia Tierman would miss only one shot on the night, going 9-10 from the field and ending with 20 points.
Bailey Taylor would have 18 of her own going 4-6 from the three-point line while
Kylie Skidmore would total 12.
Ashlyn Weatherly would grab nine rebounds and
Kiaya Warner would assist on nine shots throughout the 40 minutes. The Bulldogs ended with 13 steals as a team.
Adrian will be on the road against the Scots of Alma College on Saturday, December 2 at 5:00 PM.
