ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team traveled to Marian University to begin NCHA conference play. After trailing 1-0 in the first period, the Bulldogs scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Sabres, 5-1.
With 4:25 to go in the first period, Marian scored on a power play to give them the early lead. With under a minute to go in the period,
Jaden Shields scored to tie the game 1-1 at the intermission. In the second period,
Mathew Rehding gave the Bulldogs the lead to make it 2-1.
Adrian was busy in the third period netting three goals to win 5-1. Rehding scored his second goal of the game on a power play.
Matt Couto scored to make it 4-1 which was followed by a late power play goal from
Devyn Orpana.
Shields finished the day with three points on a goal and two assists.
Jacob Suede added a pair of assists on the night for Adrian.
Dershahn Stewart got the start in goal for the Bulldogs where he finished with 29 saves including ten in the first period and 13 in the second.
The Bulldogs will complete the road series with Marian tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 PM EST.
