FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team wrapped up its series with the Marian University Sabres on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs completed the sweep over Marian by a score of 7-2. Adrian moves to 2-1-1 overall on the season and 2-0-0 in NCHA play.
Ian Amsbuagh started the scoring for Adrian on Saturday with just over five minutes played in the game. Just over a minute later,
Alec Lovisek scored to put the Bulldogs ahead 2-0. Marian answered back with a first period goal, but Adrian responded with goals from
Mathew Rehding and
Theo Thrun within 27 seconds of each other.
Devyn Orpana netted the lone second period goal for the Bulldogs to lead 5-1, but Marian kept the game within reach with a second period goal of their own.
In the third,
Zachary Heintz and
Connor May found the back of the net to lock up the 7-2 victory.
Adrian outshot Marian on Saturday 31-27.
Dershahn Stewart got the start in goal where he finished the night with 25 saves in 53 minutes.
Jackson Bernard played the final six minutes of the game recording one save.
Adrian will return to action with its home opener on Friday, November 10 when they host the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7:00 PM.
