ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team opened up at home on Friday night in game one of the two-game series with Marian University. The Bulldog offense came ready to play as they defeated the Sabres, 8-0.
Une Bjelland led the way for Adrian with five points on the night including a four goal performance.
In the first period, Bjelland netted the opening goal after deflecting a shot from
Kathryn Truban 50 seconds into the game. Later in the period,
Allie Hubenschmidt found the back of the net to lead 2-0 which was later followed by Bjelland's second goal of the game.
In the second period,
Hunter Reardon scored her first collegiate goal to lead 4-0.
Jocelin Hudanish scored at the 12:25 mark followed by two goals in a minute from Reardon and Bjelland. Reardon's goal marked her second of the game while Bjelland's completed her hat trick.
The Bulldogs scored later in the third period on a power play giving Bjelland her fourth goal of the game.
Gia Avalone and
Callie Wollschlager added a pair of assists on the evening.
Annie Gilbert earned the start in goal where she finished with 15 saves including seven in the third period.
Adrian will complete the series with Marian on Saturday, November 4 at 3:00 PM.
