RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team opened its busy weekend at No. 3 University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Thursday evening. The game turned into an offensive battle with UW-River Falls coming ahead, 7-5.
UW-Rivers Falls jumped out to a 1-0 lead which was answered by a goal from
Courtney Ben to tie the game 1-1. UW-River Falls answered back with a pair of goals to lead 3-1 after the first. In the second period, UW-River Falls extended its lead to 5-1 before
Karmen Anderson scored for Adrian to make it 5-2. UW-River Falls scored again before the end of the period to lead 6-2.
Adrian came alive in the third period with a goal from
Une Bjelland to make it 6-3.
Tia Lascelle found the back of the net which was later followed by Bjelland's second goal of the game to trail by one. The Bulldogs were forced to pull their goaltender which allowed an empty net goal to lose 7-5.
Annie Gilbert got the start in net where she made 14 saves.
Michaela O'Brien came in later in the game where she collected 17 saves.
The Bulldogs will return to action tomorrow night when they open up a two-game NCHA series at Concordia Wisconsin at 8:00 PM EST.
