ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened its NCHA series with Concordia Wisconsin at home on Friday night. The Bulldogs were explosive on offense as they came away with an 8-0 win.
Zachary Heintz hit a career milestone on Friday night picking up his 100
th career point.
Jaden Shields put the Bulldogs on the board 31 seconds into the game to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. Later in the period, Shields struck again to make it 2-0.
Jacob Suede went on to find the back of the net on a power play followed by a goal from Heintz to lead 4-0 after the first period.
In the second period, Heintz scored just under two minutes into the period on a power play to pick up his second of the game. With 8:45 remaining in the second, Heintz completed the hat trick marking his 100
th career point.
Mathew Rehding went on to score for Adrian to lead 7-0 after two periods of play.
The Bulldogs added one goal in the third period as
Ben Loreto scored his first collegiate goal.
Bradley Somers had a day on offense where he finished the night with five assists. Rehding added four points on one goal and three assists while Heintz finished with five points on three goals and two assists. Suede also had a multi-point night with three points a goal and two assists. Shields had a two-goal night for Adrian.
Dershahn Stewart got the start in goal for Adrian where he played in the first two periods collecting ten saves.
Jackson Bernard was in net for the third period where he totaled eight saves.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the two-game series with Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, December 2 at 3:00 PM.
