Women's Basketball Holds Off Bluffton, 44-43

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team played Bluffton University on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs would hold off the Beavers and secure the win, 44-43.
 
Adrian would control the first quarter of play, winning the quarter 12-4. The Bulldogs would hold the Beavers to one made field goal through the first 10 minutes. Adrian would shoot 40% from the field and go 3-4 from the free-throw line.
 
Adrian would grow their lead to 20-8 with around five minutes left to play in the first half. Bluffton would go on a 12-0 run to tie the game up 20-20 with 1:30 remaining. Adrian would get two made layups by Peyton Russell to put them back up four points going into the half. The Bulldogs would shoot 10-26 from the floor and go 1-6 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes of action.
 
To start the second half, Adrian would strike first with a layup by Ashlyn Weatherly. A back and forth third quarter was won by the Beavers 11-10 to bring the Bulldog's lead to just three heading into the last quarter. Adrian allowed Bluffton to hang around most of the fourth quarter. The Beavers would eventually get the lead down to one with 1:45 minutes remaining in the game. Jullia Tierman would step up and knock down a jumper that was assisted by Bailey Taylor with 1:15 left to go. Adrian would get a defensive stop with under five seconds remaining to secure their one-point victory, 44-43. The Bulldogs shot 34.5% from the field and 7.7% from the three-point line.
 
A very balanced scoring effort by Adrian was on display tonight. Morgan Babb would lead with seven points while Tierman, Kylie Skidmore, and Taylor would account for six apiece. Weatherly and Taylor would each pull down six rebounds and Skidmore would hand out four assists throughout the game.
 
Adrian will come back from break and will host Calvin University for their first conference game of the season on Wednesday, January 3 at 6:00 PM!
