Men's Basketball Wins Final Game of the Smokey Ballenger Classic Against Covenant College, 51-47

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team took on Covenant College on day two of the Smokey Ballenger Classic on Saturday. The Bulldogs took home the victory in their last game of 2023 by defeating the Scots, 51-47.
 
To start the first half Josh Jordan would score the first two points of the game for Adrian with a layup. The Bulldogs would extend their early lead by a seven-point margin, 10-3 within the first five minutes of the game. The Scots would not shy away and take a one-point lead with just about six minutes left in the first half. Covenant would waltz into halftime with a six-point lead, 26-20. Adrian would shoot 37.5% from the field, but would go 0-7 from beyond the arc.
 
In the second half Adrian would settle in and take control. The Bulldogs would go on a 9-0 run within the first five minutes of the second half to take a 29-28 lead. Adrian would not let go of the lead the rest of the game. Kendall Chrismon would snag an offensive rebound and put it back in to put Adrian up 11 with six minutes left. Adrian would hit some crucial free throws down the stretch to pull off the win, 51-47. The Bulldogs would shoot 22-51 from the floor throughout the forty minutes of play and go 1-14 from three.
 
Braylon Dickerson would lead Adrian with a double-double. He would tally 16 points and 10 rebounds while going 7-12 from the floor. Nick Seifert would add 12 points of his own with six rebounds while dishing out four assists.
 
Adrian will start the new year against Alma College on Thursday, January 4 at 7:30 PM in Alma, Michigan.
