ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened its weekend series with non-conference opponent, Augsburg University on Friday evening. The Bulldogs dropped the series opener in overtime, 3-2 to the Auggies.
Augsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scoring a pair of first period goals. The Bulldogs responded on a goal from
Mathew Rehding which was assisted by
Jaden Shields and
Alec Lovisek. The Bulldogs went on to tie the game 2-2 in the second period.

After a scoreless third period, the Bulldogs and the Auggies headed to an overtime period. Early in the overtime period, Augsburg scored on a penalty shot to win 3-2.
Dershahn Stewart started in goal for Adrian where he finished the night with 37 saves.
The Bulldogs will complete the series with Augsburg tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM. Adrian College hockey is holding a Holiday Toy Drive this weekend. If you can, please bring new unopened and unwrapped toys to the Arrington Ice Arena lobby and place them in the donation bins.
