ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Olivet College on Wednesday night looking to improve in the MIAA standings. The Bulldogs trailed by 17 at the half, but began to force a comeback in the second half by scoring 59 points. Unfortunately for Adrian, the comeback fell short dropping the contest to the Comets 92-82.
Adrian struggled shooting in the first half finishing just 29.6% from the floor. Adrian failed from three-point land in the first half as they shot 0-for-7. After trailing 12-4 early in the first half, the Bulldogs went on to battle back and cut the deficit to three after an and-one from
Nick Seifert. Olivet went on to spark a run and led by 19 with just under two minutes to go in the half. Adrian went into the break trailing 40-23.
The Bulldogs began to knock down their shots in the second half where they finished 48.7% shooting including four three-point baskets and 17 made free throws. Olivet increased its lead to 25 with 15:55 to go in the game. While trailing 77-55, Adrian went on an 8-0 run to trail by 14. With 2:25 to go,
Jonathan Duvall knocked down a three-pointer to bring the difference to single digits putting the Bulldogs behind 84-75. Adrian was forced to foul late allowing Olivet to hold on and win 92-82.
Seifert led the Bulldogs with 21 points on the night to go with six rebounds.
Kendall Bellamy recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Kendall Chrismon added 12 points off the bench for the Bulldogs followed by 11 from
De'Ovion Price and ten from Duvall.
Adrian will look to put things behind them as they prepare to host Hope College on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
