ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Hope College on Saturday afternoon looking to add to their MIAA record. The Bulldogs trailed early forcing them to climb their way back the entire game. Adrian struggled to do so dropping the contest 72-63 to the Flying Dutchmen.
Adrian trailed 37-29 at the end of the first half.
De'Ovion Price finished the half with 12 points followed by six from
Chace Fields off the bench.
Josh Rechsteiner added five points in the half while
Kendall Bellamy contributed four points with five rebounds. Hope began the half with a 13-4 lead with five minutes played. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to four after help with baskets from Price and
Kendall Chrismon. Hope expanded their lead to 33-21 with 3:52 to play in the half. Price scored six of Adrian's eight final points of the half to bring the score to 37-29 at the break.
In the second half, the Bulldogs began to close in on Hope's lead. With the help of back-to-back three-pointers from
Michael Rightnowar, three points from Price, and three points from
Nick Seifert, Adrian trailed 49-46. Hope sparked another run and brought their lead back to 11 with five minutes to go. The Bulldogs knocked down their free throws and saw a three-pointer from Bellamy to cut the difference back to seven. Late in the game, Adrian was forced to foul allowing Hope to come away with a 72-63 victory.
Price led the team with 19 points followed by 12 from Fields. Bellamy added nine while Seifert collected eight. Bellamy finished the day with seven rebounds for Adrian to go with a pair of blocks. On defense, Price added four steals.
Adrian will look to snap its four-game losing streak on Wednesday, February 8 on the road at Albion College at 7:30 PM
