GENEVA, Ill. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team picked up a big win on the road on Friday night. The Bulldogs traveled to Aurora University to take on the Spartans where they came away with a 2-1 victory.
The first period went scoreless for both sides.
Tia Lascelle broke the silence with a second period goal to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0. Just over a minute played in the third period, Aurora tied the game at 1-1. With a tenth of a second left on the clock,
Une Bjelland was the decider scoring the game winning goal to put the Bulldogs ahead 2-1 and win the game.
With time ticking down, the Bulldogs skated the puck into their offensive zone. Bjelland through a shot on goal that was saved.
Jessica VonRuden took a shot which was deflected off the stick of Bjelland and it to win the game.
Karmen Anderson,
Jocelin Hudanish, and
Jessica VonRuden added assists on the night.
Sophie Goldberg got the start in goal for the Bulldogs where she finished the night with 24 saves.
Adrian will look to sweep the series tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 PM EST.
