Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Bulldogs Wrap Up Day Two of Florida Play Tuesday Afternoon


ORLANDO, FLA. – The Adrian College men's and women's teams wrapped up the second day of matches in Florida. The men's and women's teams would lose to Davenport and Saint Mary's University Tuesday. 

Morning Play 
The men's tennis team dropped their morning tilt with Davenport University 5-4 Tuesday morning, while the women's team lost 9-0 in the morning against the Panthers. 

In singles play for the men, Brandon Falk, Luke Holowinski, Sean Ruhf, and Whitman Hopper picked up victories in the morning. 

The sophomore Falk continued his impressive single's play Tuesday after defeating Frank Pina III two sets to one after coming back from a 1-0 deficit early on. Over his past seven singles matches, Falk has posted a 5-2 record, dating back to last fall. 

The freshman duo of Holowinski and Ruhf have continued to impress during the 2023 calendar year. After starting the season 1-2 in the fall, Holowinski from Grosse Pointe high has bounced back, winning three out of his last four singles matches. Holowinski's teammate Ruhf has started off his career strong as well. This morning, Ruhf beat Davenport's Max Dion 2-0 to win his third singles match in a row and his fourth out of his past five overall.

Afternoon Play  
During the afternoon, the women's tennis team was defeated by Saint Mary's University by a score of 6-3. During doubles play, Elizabeth Himebauch and Claire Earley would pick up the lone doubles win for the Lady Bulldogs. Himebauch and Earley defeated Maddie Dosser and Emily Henderson of Saint Marys 8-5. In singles play for the women, Earley would defeat Maddie Dosser of SMU 6-0 in set one and 6-2 in the last set. With her victory, the freshman Early would improve her singles record to 3-2 in her last five contests. 

The men's tennis team was also beaten 6-3 during the afternoon. For the men's squad, Ruhf and Joey Quigley would end their match victorious over Brandon Raabolle and Tucker Stene of SMU 8-6. With the win, the duo has a 2-1 record together in doubles play this season.  

The last doubles play for the men's team saw Ryan Cuddy and Whitman Hopper win their doubles match 8-4. The duo received their first doubles victory this season, snapping a two match losing streak. 

Up Next 
The women's team will open the last day of Florida play with University of Mary, tomorrow at 1:30PM, while the men will play their last tilt at Florida against Bethel University at 1:30 PM.
