Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Chatham in Non-Conference Road Trip

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – It was a successful trip to Pennsylvania for the Adrian College men's lacrosse team as they took a trip to Chatham University for a non-conference match up. Adrian defeated Chatham last season at home and was looking to do it again on the road. Adrian did what they planned as they came away with a 14-6 win over Chatham.
 
The Bulldogs led 3-0 after the first quarter. Michael Jonas put Adrian on the board in the first with nine minutes to play. Brett Koczenasz made it a 2-0 game after an assist from Derek Hassel. With five seconds to go in the quarter, Jonas scored again on a pass from Brandon Hoerauf to lead 3-0.
 
In the second quarter, Austin Selvage netted a goal on a man-up opportunity to extend the Adrian lead. Four minutes later, Chatham put themselves on the board to make it 4-1. Alec Winegar answered with back-to-back goals in a span of 25 seconds for Adrian. Chatham scored again to make it 6-2, but Selvage answered with back-to-back goals in 1:01 to lead 8-2 at the half.
 
Adrian started the third quarter with three straight goals from Jonas, Jake Coakley, and Bowen Sparks to lead 11-2. Chatham sparked a run answering with three goals on their own to make it 11-5 heading into the final quarter. Coakley and Koczenasz scored again for Adrian to lead 13-5. Chatham netted a late goal which was answered by Oliver Padilla to give the Bulldogs a 14-6 victory.
 
Selvage led the team with nine shots on goal for the day followed by six from Jonas. Nic Palomba picked up 12 ground balls with the help of 14 faceoff wins. Trent Tidswell and Hoerauf did work on defense as they each finished with four caused turnovers. Ethan Krupp earned the win in goal for the Bulldogs recording 12 total saves.
 
The Bulldogs are back at home on Wednesday, March 15 at 4:00 PM when they host Kenyon College at Docking Stadium.
