ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team hosted Kenyon College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference battle at Docking Stadium. Things didn't look too hot for the Bulldogs after the first half, but Adrian sparked a second half run which fell short. The Bulldogs came away with a 14-5 loss to the Owls.
In the first quarter, Kenyon jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game.
Jake Coakley broke the silence for Adrian with a goal to make it 2-1. Kenyon went on to score five straight goals and lead 7-1 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Kenyon went up 10-1 scoring three goals including a goal on the man-up advantage.
Michael Jonas found the back of the net to make it 10-2 at the break.
The Bulldogs got fired up at halftime and came out of the break scoring the first three goals.
Brett Koczenasz scored for Adrian followed by back-to-back goals from
Trenton Garcia to make the it a 10-5 game. Kenyon responded with a goal in the third to lead 11-5 entering the final 15 minutes of play. In the fourth quarter, it was all Kenyon where the Owls scored three goals and held Adrian scoreless.
Cameron Reed led the team with eight ground balls on the afternoon to go with a team-high five caused turnovers.
Ethan Krupp started in goal for Adrian where he finished the day with 12 saves.
The Bulldogs will return to action at home on Saturday, March 18 when they take on Ottebein University at 4:00 PM at Docking Stadium. Prior to Saturday's game, Adrian will honor its 2023 senior class.
