ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team broke out its new jerseys on Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs hosted Otterbein University at Docking Stadium. Prior to the game, Adrian honored its senior class that included
Ethan Krupp,
Mason Obeldobel,
Benjamin Magnus, and
Brett Koczenasz. The Bulldogs went on to defeat the Cardinals 8-7 in an exciting battle.
Brandon Hoerauf scored the opening goal for the Bulldogs to take a 1-0 lead. After Otterbein answered to tie the game,
Cameron Reed wrapped a shot around from behind the net to take a 2-1 lead with 35 seconds to go in the first quarter.
Michael Jonas scored to open the second quarter and lead 3-1. The Cardinals bounced back sparking a three goal run to take the lead 4-3. With two seconds left in the half,
Austin Selvage scored for Adrian to tie the game 4-4.
To open the second half, Jonas scored on a man-up advantage to lead 5-4. Otterbein responded but
Bowen Sparks gave Adrian the lead again heading into the fourth quarter ahead 6-5.
Jake Coakley extended the lead to 7-5 in the fourth. Otterbein made it 7-6, before Selvage responded with his second goal of the game to lead by two. With 3:18 to go in the game, Otterbein scored to trail by one. With 1:11 to go in the game, Adrian's
AJ Hayes forced a turnover allowing the Bulldogs to pass the ball around until time expired to win 8-7.
Nic Palomba led the team with four ground balls on the afternoon with the help of seven faceoff wins. Hayes finished the day with a team-high four caused turnovers followed by three from
Garon Blanchard. Krupp started in goal for the Bulldogs earning his second win of the season with 12 saves.
The Bulldogs will go on the road for their next three games starting on Sunday, March 26 at 12:00 PM when they travel to Hanover College.
