MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Forwards,
Macy Piche and
Tess McKerrow, of the Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team were named to the ACHA All-Tournament Second Team upon the conclusion of the 2023 ACHA National Championship Tournament, which took place last week in Massachusetts. The WD1 Bulldogs finished their season strong, winning their first two games of the tournament in dominant fashion over Michigan and Indiana Tech, before falling short in the national semifinal game.
Freshman,
Macy Piche, finished the tournament with three goals and two assists in three games for the Bulldogs, while sophomore,
Tess McKerrow, finished with three goals and three assists in the tournament. Senior goaltender,
Reid Bahr, did not receive an All-Tournament award but was stellar in goal for Adrian, stopping 68 of the 78 shots she faced in the tournament.
Head Coach
Carter Clarke, in his first season at the helm, said this about the WD1 Bulldogs efforts this season:
"Our season started off hot, we jumped out to an 8-0 start with a few big wins. Heading into the conference playoffs we had a little bit of a chip on our shoulder even though we were the defending champs. We showed up, played our game and won when it mattered most, and claimed our fifth straight CCWHA Playoff Title. We then set our sights on Boston, Massachusetts and the National Tournament. I think we had the same mentality going into the National Tournament as playoffs, a little bit of a chip on our shoulder. It was a gut wrenching loss [in the semifinal] that I am sure will motivate our young group over the next few years, it just unfortunately wasn't our time. I could not be more proud and appreciative of these 23 girls, I walked into our locker room at the end of August with a plan and had immediate buy-in and immediately felt the girls trust in me. The future of our program is extremely bright as we have many young players returning next season. We will be back in pursuit of that National Championship."
The WD1 Bulldogs finished their season with a 25-10 record with 151 goals for and 65 goals against on their way to a CCWHA Conference Playoff Championship and a Final Four finish at the ACHA National Championships. They will now look forward to the 2023-2024 season.
