ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Adrian College Bulldogs opened pool play at the ACHA National Tournament Thursday and Friday with a pair of tightly contested matchups, showcasing strong defensive efforts and standout goaltending despite coming away with two overtime losses.
In their opening game against No. 2 Midland University, where a defensive battle unfolded. Neither team was able to generate offense through regulation, as both sides were held scoreless through three periods. Rieley Jessie-Gerelli had an impressive performance, stopping 51 of 52 shots in the overtime defeat.
Adrian returned to the ice the next day against No. 11 University of Massachusetts-Amherst, battling through a physical, back-and-forth contest that required extra time once again. After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs broke through late in the second when senior Ashlynn Stitt found the back of the net, assisted by senior Genessie Williams, to give Adrian a 1-0 lead. UMass responded in the third period with a power-play goal to even the score, sending the game to overtime. Despite a strong effort, Adrian conceded the game-winner in the extra frame, falling 2-1. Goaltender Jessie-Gerelli delivered a standout performance in net, turning aside 40 shots and keeping the Bulldogs in contention throughout the game. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs outshot the Minutewomen.
That will conclude the WD1 Bulldogs 2025-26 Season, as the Bulldogs finish the year 19-15-2 overall.
