COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team traveled to Columbus, Ohio for a non-conference contest with Capital University. Things didn't go as planned for the Bulldogs as they were defeated 18-11 on the road.
Michael Jonas led Adrian with seven goals on the afternoon.
Capital took the lead early in the game scoring 27 seconds in. They went on to lead 2-0 before Jonas scored his first goal of the game. Capital answered, but
Austin Selvage scored to make it 3-2. Capital made it 5-2 before Jonas scored a man-up goal. After another Capital goal, Jonas scored to end the first quarter down 6-4.
To start the second quarter, Jonas scored another man-up goal to put the Bulldogs down one. Capital went on a 6-0 run before Jonas scored with three seconds left in the first half and headed into the break trailing 12-6.
After a pair of goals from Capital to open the second half,
Cameron Reed recorded a goal for Adrian. Capital responded, but
Jake Coakley found the back of the net to make it 15-8 after the third. In the fourth, Jonas scored a pair of goals to put the Bulldogs down five. Capital went on to score three more times before Reed recorded his second goal of the game with under a minute to go and lose 18-11.
Reed and
AJ Hayes each led the team with three caused turnovers while
Nic Palomba picked up four ground balls.
Ethan Krupp picked up the loss in goal on Wednesday while making 14 saves.
Adrian will travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday as they travel to play Chatham University on Saturday, March 11 at 4:00 PM.
