DELAWARE, Ohio – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team struggled on Wednesday night as they headed on the road to Ohio Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs couldn't find a groove offensively and dropped the non-conference contest, 15-5.
Things looked promising early in the game as
Jake Coakley scored the first goal of the game to lead 1-0 29 seconds in. Ohio Wesleyan scored six unanswered goals in the first quarter to lead 6-1. Ohio Wesleyan went on to score the first five goals of the second quarter to lead 11-1. Coakley scored his second of the game to make it 11-2 followed by a goal from
Cameron Reed with 11 seconds to go in the first half.
Ohio Wesleyan held the Bulldogs scoreless in the third quarter as they extended their lead to 13-3. In the fourth, Ohio Wesleyan scored again, but
Alec Winegar and
Bowen Sparks answered to make it 14-5 with three minutes to go. Ohio Wesleyan scored once more before time expired to win 15-5.
Gino Capicchioni led the Bulldogs with four ground balls on the night. All three of Adrian's goaltenders appeared in the game on Wednesday night with
Ethan Krupp recording the loss.
The Bulldogs begin conference play starting Saturday, April 8 when they open with Kalamazoo College on the road at 4:00 PM.
