KALAMAZOO, Mich. — On Saturday afternoon the Adrian College track and field team travelled to Kalamazoo where they competed in a field of 12 teams, and had a strong showing with only a month away from the conference meet.
The meet originally started on Friday with men's and women's javelin competing.
Caleb Ellis had a strong showing for his first ever attempts at the event placing 5th and throwing a distance of 36.86 meters.
Audrey Salenbien won the event throwing a distance of 39.99 meters.
Will Houvener and
Clayton Lynch both ran the 3000-meter Steeple Chase placing 2nd and 4th respectively. This was Houvener's first attempt at the race and completed it in a time of 10:24.77.
Emme Koutz ran a huge personal record in the 1500-meter race, putting her at just 11 seconds away from the school record. Koutz finished the race in 7th place in a time of 4:53.12. Koutz also won the women's 800-meter race in a time of 2:22.56
Joshua Light competed in the 110 meter hurdles and placed in the top 5 coming across the line in 16.12.
Amanda Mathews,
Isabelle Salazar and
Rylea Mougrabi placed 6th, 7th and 8th on the day in the women's 100-meter dash.
Alec Grzegorek knocked in a huge personal record of 2:03.19 during the men's 800-meter contest and placed 5th on the day.
Asher Cousino,
Weston Kvalevog, and Josh Trudell all had solid performances in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Robert Diebold and
Brett Carlisle placed 2nd and 4th in the men's 5000-meter race clocking in at times of 15:29.32 and 15:44.82.
Rounding off the meet was both the men's and women's 4x400 meter relays both placing second on the day, with the women's relay coming in at a time of 4:26.72 and the men's in the time of 3:26.14.
The track and field team is back in action next week on Friday April 14th for the Don Kleinow Invitational hosted by cross town rival Siena Heights. Field events are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with running events starting at 2:30 p.m.
