Men’s Rowing Caps Historic Season With Eighth Place Finish At IRA National Championship

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ. -- The Adrian Men's Rowing team traveled to the IRA National Championships for the first time in program history this weekend. Having claimed an automatic qualifying bid through their performance at the Conference Championships at the end of April, spirits were high in the Bulldog's Varsity Eight. With a chance to compete against the best teams in the country, the bulldogs raced to a hard fought eighth place, having been placed in the Petite Final after a tough heat on Friday.

In Saturday's Final, the Bulldogs lined up next to St Lawrence, another new face at the IRA Championships and winner of the Liberty League Conference. The Saints started well, pulling into an early lead, but Adrian fought back hard until halfway, finding themselves just a few seats away from the lead at the 1000-meter mark. In the second half, however, the St Lawrence crew made full use of the size advantage they possessed to hold off the charging Adrian Crew.

"This was a really fantastic experience all around," Said Coach Pratt "Just being in the competitor's area with big name D1 crews, and seeing the very top level of the sport brought us to another level. Of course, we wish we could have finished a little higher in the rankings, but for us to be on the stage in just our fifth year as a program is a huge achievement in and of itself. We'll look forward to returning next year, and I know the guys are already hungry to get after it again next year!"

The Bulldogs have wrapped up their 2022-23 season and will return to action in the Fall of 2023!
