ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team held its season opener on Friday at Docking Stadium against Kenyon College. The Bulldogs fought hard but dropped the opening contest 2-0.
Adrian battled in the first half totaling two shots and landing one on goal. The Bulldogs had an early opportunity by
Leah Homan that missed off the right woodwork of the goal in the fifth minute.
In the second half, Adrian increased their offensive aggression as they picked up seven shots and had four of them land on goal. In the 61
st minute, Kenyon scored their first goal of the game to lead 1-0. Adrian had two extremely close opportunities in the 66
th minute from
Kelsey Zoli and Homan, but the shots ended up getting saved. A penalty kick goal in the 79
th minute by Kenyon allowed them to secure the 2-0 win.
Kaitlyn Dake totaled three shots with two on goal followed by Homan with two shots and one on goal and
Josie Huber with two shots as well. The Adrian defense allowed only five shots, but all five were on goal resulting in three saves for goaltender
Taylor Fischer.
The Bulldogs look to turn the page quickly as they host Denison University at 2 PM EST tomorrow inside Docking Stadium.
