ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted No. 3 Calvin University on Wednesday night in a MIAA contest. The Bulldogs battled with the Knights taking the contest down to the wire before falling 71-65.
Adrian and Calvin were tied 28-28 at halftime. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game, before Calvin claimed an 8-7 lead. The Bulldogs scored on the next position to lead 9-8 and held onto the lead until under two minutes remained in the half.
In the second half, Calvin jumped up six with 18:35 to go in the game. Adrian went on to climb back and tied the game 43-43 with 12:36 to go. The Knights sparked another run and lead by seven with 4:45 remaining, but the Bulldogs didn't give up and cut the deficit to three with 41 seconds to go. After Calvin extended the lead to five,
DJ Morrow hit his second consecutive three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were forced to foul allowing Calvin to take the victory.
Morrow led all scorers with 23 points on the evening followed by 13 from
Nick Seifert.
Reed Schilling collected eight points for Adrian while
Kendall Chrismon and
Braylon Dickerson each added six.
The Bulldogs will continue its tough conference schedule on Saturday, January 13 when they host Hope College at 3:00 PM.
