APPLETON, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team completed the sweep over Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs came away with a 4-1 win to total 12 goals on the weekend while allowing three.
Adrian scored first on a shorthanded goal from
Theo Thrun to lead 1-0. Early in the second period,
Bradley Somers gave Adrian a 2-0 lead. Lawrence responded to make it 2-1, but
Ryan Pitoscia answered with another shorthanded goal for Adrian.
John Kaljian scored towards the end of the period to lead 4-1.
Adrian led 40-24 in shots on goal on the afternoon with seven of the shots coming for Kaljian.
Nolan Suggs got the start in net on Saturday afternoon where he allowed one goal and made 23 saves in his second collegiate win.
This is the first time Adrian has scored two shorthanded goals in the same game since March 25, 2022 against Augsburg University in the NCAA Division III Semifinals, and the eighth time in program history.
Adrian will return home for a series with Lake Forest College on January 19-20. Friday night's game will begin at 7:00 PM.
