Women's Basketball Comes up Short Against Hope

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Women's Basketball team battled hard against a very strong Hope College team on Wednesday night. The Dutch ultimately came away with the win, 68-56.

The Bulldogs fought hard in the first half, with Bailey Taylor hitting two big shots toward the end of the second quarter to give the Bulldogs a 23-22 lead. However, the Dutch fought back and climbed out to a six-point lead going into the break.

A slow start to the second half would see the Bulldogs fall behind 31-42 with 6:30 left in the third quarter. However, Julia Tierman inspired a late third-quarter comeback, scoring five consecutive points to bring the Bulldogs to within four with three minutes to go in the third quarter. Hope would go on to extend their lead to ten heading into the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs were not done yet, however, as they cut the Hope lead to just four with 6:12 to go. The Bulldogs could not keep the momentum going though, and Hope was able to see out the rest of the game, with a final score of 68-56.

Three-point shooting proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs shot just 1-17 from behind the arc compared to Hope's 6-25. Julia Tierman led the Bulldogs in scoring, shooting an impressive 9-11 from the field and contributing 19 points, with Bailey Taylor also contributing 17.

With this loss, the Bulldogs drop to 7-9 overall and 2-6 in MIAA play. They will have another opportunity to end their slump as they will be back home on Saturday, January 20 when they take on the Scots of Alma College at 1:00 PM.
