ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Women's Basketball team played a strong first half against a physical Albion College team on Saturday afternoon. However, it was not enough as they dropped the game, 74-55.
After a competitive first quarter that saw Adrian fall behind 11-16, the Bulldogs came out firing in the second half, tying the score at 29 with 1:11 left in the half. Important baskets from
Kylie Skidmore and
Peyton Russell lifted the Bulldogs to a five-point lead going into the break, with
Ashlyn Weatherly and
Bailey Taylor also contributing to the Bulldogs' lead.
A slow start to the second half saw the Bulldogs fall behind 42-48, scoring just eight points in the third quarter. From there, Albion's physical play proved the difference, as they put up 42 points in the paint to Adrian's 26 and comfortably closed out the rest of the contest.
The Bulldogs were led in scoring by
Kylie Skidmore,
Ashlyn Weatherly, and
Bailey Taylor, who contributed sixteen, eleven, and ten points respectively.
Following Saturday's loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 7-6 on the season and also dropped to 2-3 in MIAA play. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Wednesday, January 10 as they travel to Angola for a battle with the Trine University Thunder, the team touted to win the MIAA. Tip-off in Angola is set for 7:00 PM.
