ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team was back in action on Saturday afternoon with a home contest against the USA U18 National Team Development Program. The Bulldogs went down early, but scored five unanswered goals to come away with a 5-3 victory.
USA jumped out to an early 1-0 lead scoring just under two minutes into the game. In the second period, USA scored back-to-back goals early before
Jacob Suede put Adrian on the board making it 3-1.
Patrick Saini snuck in a goal late in the period to trail 3-2 entering the final period.
After a five-minute major penalty from USA, the Bulldogs scored on the power play with
Bradley Somers tying the game, 3-3.
Patrick Saini scored his second goal of the game with 6:51 to go which was followed by an insurance goal from
Ryder Nienhuis to lead 5-3. USA pulled its goalie with 2:54 to play, the but the Adrian defense kept the puck out of the net to win the game.
Saini finished the game with two goals and one assist while Nienhuis finished with a goal and two assists. Suede and Somers each finished with a goal and an assist.
Dershahn Stewart started in goal for the Bulldogs where he finished the day with 37 saves including 17 in the second period.
The No. 3 Bulldogs will host No. 4 Utica University next weekend in a two-game home series. Game one will begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 2 followed by game two on Sunday.
