FRANKLIN, IND. -Â The Adrian College cross country team put forth a strong effort at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, with standout performances from both the men's and women's squads. Held at Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana, the meet showcased some impressive individual and team results, highlighted by Will Houvener's top 30 finish in the men's race.
The women's race kicked off the day at 11:00 AM, and freshman Samantha Coots led the Bulldogs, crossing the finish line in 151st place with a time of 25:11.8. Senior Sydney Wilkie followed closely in 218th place with a time of 26:41.2, while junior Emma Frost finished in 224th at 26:49.8. Sophomore Sarah Anastasiadis wasn't far behind, placing 225th in 26:51.0, and freshman Olivia Hyatt rounded out the top five for Adrian, finishing in 226th with a time of 26:53.6. As a team, the Bulldogs finished 34th with a total score of 1022.
On the men's side, Will Houvener led the Bulldogs with a 26th-place finish, completing the race in 25:40.1. Freshman Ryan Morris followed with a time of 27:21.6, finishing 136th overall. Freshman Colin Syrek took 169th place with a time of 28:01.3, while junior Chris Smith finished 182nd in 28:18.7. Senior Caleb Billings rounded out the top five in 192nd place with a time of 28:41.1. The men's team finished 24th overall with a total score of 701.
This wraps up the 2024 cross country season as most will continue to compete in the upcoming indoor and outdoor track and field season.
