GRANVILLE, Ohio. -- The Adrian College women's basketball team took on La Roche in the consolation round of the Sara Lee Classic Tournament, hosted by Denison, on Sunday. The Bulldogs moved to 0-4 after a 62-52 loss.
Adrian and La Roche traded dominance in each half of the contest, setting up for a nail-biter right down to the final buzzer. La Roche dominated in quarters one and two, while Adrian fought back to dominate in quarters three and four. Although, the Bulldogs came up ten points short in the gut-wrenching loss.
Leading for Adrian on Sunday was
Kylie Skidmore and
Darby Lienerth, who each registered 13 points in the game. Skidmore added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals, while Lienerth collected 9 rebounds for the team lead, 1 assist, and 5 steals, also the team lead.
Hannah Lisch and
Aubrie Ickes saw the most minutes for the Bulldogs, covering the court for 34 minutes apiece. Lisch finished with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 dimes, and 2 steals. Ickes ended the day with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.
Adrian went 20-67 from field goal range, 2-20 from beyond the arc, and 10-18 from the free-throw line.
Still in search of their first win of the season, the Adrian College women's basketball squad will next head to Manchester for a road contest on Saturday, November 23. Tip off goes at 1:00 PM in Indiana.
