ALBION, MICH. – The Adrian College women's wrestling team competed at the Albion Open on Sunday.
In the 117-pound class, junior Sharla Juhas received a first-round bye but faced tough competition, finishing the day 0-2 after falling in the quarterfinals and later in the consolation bracket.
Sophomore Sophia Renteria competed at 124 pounds, ending with a 1-2 record. After a first-round loss, Renteria rebounded in the consolation bracket, securing a victory by tech fall before being eliminated in the next round.
Freshman Samantha Bultron had an impressive showing at 138 pounds, going 2-2 for the day. After a first-round bye, she dropped her second-round match but came back strong with two wins, one by bye and another by tech fall before exiting in the fourth round of the consolation bracket.
In the 145-pound class, junior Isabel Worthing also went 2-2, starting her day strong with two victories by pin before falling short in her next two matches.
Senior Jasmine Hale wrestled at 160 pounds but faced stiff competition, finishing 0-2 on the day.
The Bulldogs had two competitors in the 180-pound class: sophomore Xsaria Puente and freshman Josie Hause, both of whom went 0-2 in the tournament.
Adrian will be back in action on Thursday, November 21 where they will travel to cross-town rival Siena Heights University for a duel. Action begins at 7:30 PM.
